"We've had 69 applications, of which three were canceled at the request of the applicant," Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said. "So far eight licenses have been approved and issued."

Weird.

Sounds like DC is not following the order very well.

The City Council adopted a "may issue" law which featured a myriad of restrictions, imposed 18 hours of training requirements, cost $110 in application fees, and required applicants prove to city officials their need to carry a firearm.

Didn't the "prove a need" thing get struck down in CA not too long ago?

Replica bullets and a dud shotgun shell got a man convicted of weapons charges in the nation's capital, in a case gun rights activists say shows how overzealous authorities are trampling the Second Amendment.

DC Government is RABIDLY anti private gun and has some GOTCHA laws. If you visit DC to show your kids the seat of American Government, remember an empty cartridge case in your vehicle is an arrestable offense in the District of Columbia.
