But I had planned on posting this tonight before I saw it.
Wyoming, at one point in history would disqualify any man with a glass eye from becoming a mason. More interestinglyWyoming would disqualify a man for SHOOTING HIMSELF IN THE HIP WITH A LOADED PISTOL CARRIED IN HIS POCKET WHILE RIDING HORSEBACK. Not sure how often it happened but apparently they felt the need!!
I just wondered if that's where "one to the hip" originated ??

Had a guide in Colorado who did something similar. He had worked around his ranch house feeding and the hay stack collaped on him. He had dammaged some discs in his back so had to wear a support.
He wore a 44 mag on his belt for bears.
He was up at hunting camp on a "nag-his words" and going down the trail. The nag jerked the reins out of his hands so leaned forward to grab them. Missed first time and the second reach shot his self in the a$$. Only thing he could figure out on first reach the back brace cocked the mag and second reach fired it off.
To make it even worse before spring , he was transporting a couple of horses back to his lower ranch house and one of the horses went nuts in the trailer and threw itself again the side several times. It kept shifting going down the slippery snow covered road. The wheels of the trailer went off the side and he ended up pulling the trailer off and rolling trailer and pickup off down the mountain side.
I think he was glad when elk season was finished.
