Anyone in the area of Owasso/Collinsville or surrounding that uses the Dillon 1050's with PW auto drives? I have three and two more on the way and I'm having a bear of a time getting those drives adjusted and keeping them set. Any tips or tricks?

Thanks
Lee

How do you like your 1050's? I'm assuming a lot if you have several of them....is it a pain to do caliber changes? I want one for my 40th, mostly for .223, .308, 39-06, and .300 blackout. We will see if the Mrs. makes it happens...

If you want to load that many calibers the 650 is probably a better fit. The 1050 isn't one you want to change over all the time and caliber conversions are expensive. Where they shine is loading very large quantities.

I have called them and yes they were helpful! But it seems no matter what action I take with regards to adjusting the drives, they still don't seem to be consistent. You'd think if they are all adjusted and tightened down, they would not change, but they seem to..

I would agree with shadowrider... it's much easier to change calibers with the 650, unless you want to buy multiple tool heads for the 1050. I have three 1050's with bullet feeders and PW drives. One more on the way and one in sixty days. I'm now thinking I may not put the PW drives on the last two, but the other one that's chain driven.

Well that sucks to hear... I was wanting to get that exact setup - the 1050 with the Ponsness. Mostly to do large amounts of 5.56, .45, .40 and 9.

Could be that Dillon's definition of large quantities and yours might be a bit different. See below for a great link.

Assisted only by the Dillon's RF 100 Automatic Primer filler, I once loaded 1000 rounds on a 1050 in 33 minutes. And I wasn’t even cranking the handle like a madman - it was just a smooth, consistent run. Of course, I’ve loaded a few bazillion rounds over the years, so that helps. If you want/need to load a garage full of ammo and would rather spend more time on the range than pulling the handle, the 1050 is the machine for you.

Not recommended until you are shooting 4000+ rounds/month in a single caliber, and never as your first progressive machine.

If the 650 ever comes out with the swager built in that would would make it an easy decision. I hate wasting time with case prep like manually swaging. That feature on the 1050 alone might make it worth it. Plus....the machine is black! Looks bad$&@!!

The swaging is really a huge benefit! I have the bench mount swager and it works great, but not for large qtys. I'm really happy with the 1050's I have, it's the drives that I can't seem to get adjusted to be consistent. However it was pointed out to me ( by my wife) that I have OCD and that it's never going to be exact every time.. I suppose...lol
