Just filed a report with Edmond PD. Had someone run to our door and knock for 4 seconds and run even faster back to the car while wearing a grey hoody and brown dress shoes. No sound was made from the inside of the house like we were responding. This was caught on our CCTV system in great detail but they were wearing a hoody closed tight around there face so we can't see detail. I'll post the video here soon as its just weird and I don't think this was a home invasion attempted, no proof of the tag number number as it a drive from our community gate and can't prove it was them.

Not looking for legal advice!! Just looking to see your comments and what would run though your heads!

It could be a gag, it could be any number of examples of random stupidity.

I tend to be suspicious by experience, so I would suspect that it was to determine your reaction time, your response, whether or not you were present.

I would double check all my doors and windows. I'd also consider making sure you have exterior lights on.
I would view the fact the person made sure they could not be easily identified by camera's as a strong indicator that they knew they were up to no good.

I read the other day that some folks are installing a sprinkler over their doors, if they trigger the sensor they get drenched.

When I was a kid we used to do stupid stuff like that ringer doorbells and running away just to be idiots. Now, I think the above posters are right, it probably was a test. The times they are a changing...I need to tie my doorbell to an interior light. If it rings, the light comes on.

Since they knocked and ran right back to the car, I'm thinking it was a gag. Friday night hijinks...

If they were wanting to see if you were home, I think they would've waited to see if anyone answered.

Firecop203's comment spoke of perhaps there being a second vehicle on the street to "judge" the reaction. That way, the actual "perpetrator" would be gone if the homeowner happened to have video of their own with which to "identify" the suspect.

There was a report a month or so ago about an incident where a home invasion was thwarted by the lady of the house having a pistol. They were hoping to get an arrest from images/video from an outdoor trail camera. Maybe it is time to install one at one's home? Perhaps high enough that the thieves can't steal the camera?
