The Air Force negligently failed to provide the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) with information regarding the shooter, Devin Patrick Kelly, that would have prevented his purchase of a firearm from a federally licensed dealer.

At least these settlements bring a measure of accountability for the government's failure to do its job.
