This year, and its beginning have sucked. Its been real tough, has brought me to my knees and I've taken actions that I never thought I would. I'm not asking for sympathy, but asking for prayers and words of encouragement. Also, how's your year going, the good or bad. I honestly want to hear.

Last December, my aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I knew the prognosis, being a 20 year medic, but it was hard to convince my family of the reality of the situation. My aunt died Feb 7th, in hospice, surrounded by our family. She was, as American Indian culture goes, a mother to me. It's a loss I'm still struggling with everyday.

My aunt was, Captain Begay of the U.S. Public Health Service, an often forgotten service. If anything, maybe this shows the service of the two commission corp.

Sorry for your loss and I can understand how you feel a bit. We are still reeling from the sudden death of our daughter and my mother has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer as well. On top of that, I have been getting some of my insulin and Ozempic for no cost part of last year which really helped money wise. This year so far they have a screw up somewhere and while they say that I am approved for it, I have not received any this year. Luckily I still have a bunch of the insulin since they tend to send more than I really need.

As far as how to deal with it, I let my warped sense of humor run amok because it is better to laugh then to cry. Look for the stupid things in life and enjoy them while you can. I refuse to go quietly. I fully intend to slide into that box sideways and at high speed and slam the lid once I am in there. If I can hit it hard enough to flip the box over that is even better.

Seriously, hang in there and just do your best. Losing a loved one sucks but it happens to all of us and there is nothing anyone can do. I know not exactly words of comfort but it is the best I can do tonight.

Yup, my 2025 started off lovely too. The gout has been kicking my ass lately, as well as the edema and venous ulcers in my lower legs. But what's worse, me lovely Mrs. GED gets in on the action and has to have her gallbladder removed.

I feel your pain brother. Getting old definitely ain't for wimps!

Sir, my loss can't compare to your daughter, I would like to hear about her, if on the forum, or in message. I'm sorry to hear about your mother's stage 4 cancer, that's what my aunt got diagnosed with. As far as your Ozempic, remember to keep it refrigerated if possible and to check your blood sugar at least twice a day, morning and night.

I worked with Karen for a while in OKC . . . she was a great person. I was sad to hear of her passing.
