Do did anyone watch tuesday nights show? It was a retired Chiropractor who had spent 2Million building a 700 acre compound called "The Alamo" 300 miles west of Houston where he lived. Come interesting items on the show..

Concrete water tanks, cool idea...
A hostage raid with off duty Sheriff Deputies having guns (cleared or not) pointed at them...
The lesser experienced guy fired his gun inside a blind and gave the other guy temporary deafness...
Taught his son on Nation TV how to slaughter a goat...

This show is giving a lot of different groups of people a bad name. Most of these people have no experience with the safe handling and operation of guns, they are pushing their kids for the sake of ratings, and from an outside observer they are making less then solid decisions.

Although they have a safety team with the production crew, and accidents can happen anywhere, I feel these people are doing more harm then good...

I also get a crack out of the final statements by "Practical Prepper" that nothing can happen and all is very unlikely... kinda like a storm could never wipe out power and living on the upper East coast...

I caught it, and I think this episode started out good and his plans seemed well thought out, but about 1/3 of the way in it began to really descend into madness. The less experienced guys family didn't really seem on board. He pushed his daughter with regard to shooting, and she didn't seem to like it at all.

This season is worse than last when it comes to picking some pretty out there people. I think it's what NG is looking for when they cast the show. Either that, or it's just that type of person who applies to be on the show.

I do think that there are some good ideas from time to time (just like the concrete water tanks), and there is some train wreck type entertainment value, but I wouldn't follow any of them in my quest to be prepared.

The "experts" have to be self-proclaimed and are retarded. I'm like you and think it's hysterical that they seem to think no emergencies will happen.

Well NatGeo wants to put the crazies on display and then have the experts bring the audience back down to earth. I watch the show for entertainment and make occasional side notes on good things like the water tank. I make way more mental notes of 'what not to do's' from watching that show though lol.

I have never heard of hearing damage causing vomiting and vertigo. Did anyone else find this strange?

I also thought it was a little hardcore to make his son slit the throat of a goat that he trapped. Not to mention smearing the blood on his 6 year old's face, who cringed when it happened.

This group was a little "out there", but I was impressed with "the Alamo". How much money do chiropractors make in Houston, anyway? :-)

i think Tom just wanted to show who was king of the ranch by throwing his little baby fit. I rarely used hearing protection shooting when I was young and have never experienced anything more than temporary hearing loss. That or Tom is just a b!tch, meaning he has the dough and the equipment but wouldn't last as long as a fart in a whirlwind in a real life situation.

The reason only the ignorant masses always appear on the show is because the intelligent ones would never talk about their plans publicly like that. The so called "experts"...need an ass kicking. I bet these "experts" are actually owners of wise foods or mountain house or something like that who tell these morons how much more stuff they need to buy from them. I lost faith in the experts when they gave the couple with the stereo shop/sex toy shop a 10 out of 20 points on food when they had over 4 years of food stocked up. I would hate to see what it takes to get a "20"!
