Suspect in crossing guard's death fails to show for plea, sentencing

“According to Enid Police Department records, Lopez had been cited or arrested at least 11 other times since 2005 for various traffic infractions. His latest citation came on Sept. 29, 2023, less than two weeks before the Oct. 11 accident involving Luskey.

The list includes:

• Jan. 22, 2005 — cited on a complaint of driving the wrong direction on a one-way street.

• March 20, 2005 — cited on complaints of improper equipment, no insurance and expired tag.

• Dec. 19, 2005 — cited on a complaint of no seat belt.

• Dec. 20, 2005 — cited on complaints of speeding and no driver’s license.

• April 19, 2006 — cited on complaints of speeding and improper equipment.

• May 5, 2006 — arrested on complaints of improper equipment-brake light and operating a vehicle without a license.

• Jan. 17, 2007 — involved in a collision with another vehicle.

• April 25, 2014 — arrested on complaints of driving without a valid license.

• Jan. 11, 2015 — arrested on complaints of driving without a valid license, invalid license tag and no security verification.

• Aug. 7, 2019 — cited on a complaint of speeding (1 to 10 mph over).

• Sept. 29, 2023 – cited on complaints of driving without a valid license and speeding.”
