My friend checked my place, and there wasn’t even a limb down. I dodged the bullet again, but the feedlot down the road has their hay pile on fire but don’t know if it’s storm related or not.

Still no juice in my part of Tulsa. Being a transplant from Washington, what I don't get is where are all the utility trucks? I'm driving around trying to stay cool, and I still haven't seen a single one. In WA, they would be EVERYWHERE. Of course, they would have had nearly all power recovered within 24 hrs after a bad storm also.
Does Tulsa simply not have the necessary infrastructure?

Usually when a large area goes down it is either the main feeder lines or substation that is down but not in every case thou but if that is the case most of the crews will be on the outskirts fixing them problems and then work their way inwards. But each case is different.

That makes sense. I'm just frustrated like everybody else I suppose. I drove something like 15 miles this morning, and was unable to find any ice to purchase. Perhaps I should just crawl under the car with the dog. She seems to have good instincts.

Oklahoma has some of the best repair crews in the nation—that’s why you’ll often see them in other states after natural disasters. The fact that there’s still so much power out, and that it’s such a patchwork of outages, tells me that this was an extraordinary weather event in a state that’s unusual prepared for extraordinary weather events.

I’m not seeing a lot of obvious problems like lines down, so I’m thinking @rickm is right, and it’s damage to substations, etc, not the kind of stuff where you’d expect to see linemen rolling.

FWIW, electricity is pretty spotty in South Tulsa. The stoplights on Yale at 91st and 81st are working normally, but the lights at 71st, 61st, 51st, and Skelly are out, and the lights between 71st and 61st are either off or flashing red.

And there are way too many people out who don’t understand (or just DGAF) how to deal with stoplights that are out.

Great source for ice is Sonic; they seem to be everywhere.
