This has been a great thread. I grew up in a Christian home going to church. I knew I didn't come from a monkey. I was a biology major in college. Here are my thoughts: Simple version evolution is change over time. This can apply to the church and why we have so many flavors of religion since the pilgrims landed on the mayflower or the current flu virus that is going around because the flu shot was not as effective this year as it has been the past couple of years. How the earth and planets came about call it what you want, to complex for me to worry about. The big bang theory is right there with who invented the internet way to complex for a simple guy like me. Most evolution disproved books that I saw in the 90's were printed in the early part of that century. I remember the preacher saying you can't put dirt in a box and create life but god created life from dirt. I remember thinking you can put dirt in a box and pray for it all you want & you still won't have a VCR either, but man found a way to build a VCR. For the people that believe the earth is 10,000 years old do you believe just the tigris - Euphrates area was flooded or the entire earth was flooded (referring to Noah), if entire earth was flooded why are certain animals endemic to certain parts of the world kangaroos, armadillos & zebras. I took several Indian studies classes and that really opened my eyes that there are hundreds of creational myths out there, I had grew up thinking you had to be christian or you were hell bound, I thought, so what happens to those non Christian people. Just a few thoughts
