Those who shoot marlin 45-70s what factory stuff shoots good?

Mine is a non micro grove JM marked rifle. I have shot remington 405gr stuff and it didnt seem to shoot all that well to me (could have been me lol). Not set up to reload for this yet so buying my ammo. Have a box of hornady leverution to try also. Planning on instaling a low power variable or fixed 4x scope and deer hunting with it.

Find something other than Winchester, Remington, or federal. They are really downloaded in case somebody sticks it in an original trapdoor Springfield.

Remington 300HP shoots fantastic out of my Marlin Guide Gun. Leupold 1x4 off the bags at 100 yards it will clover leaf three shots if I do my part. Even tho factory ammo is downloaded it kills real well without beating the shooter up.

Not really downloaded, they're loaded to original pressures as are all .45-70 ammo, unless specified on the box as being "unsafe for trapdoor"......The custom guys load them up....like Buffalo Bore, Garrett, Corbon, etc.
Good lever gun article here.

Everyone I've talked to and myself included have had good results out of the Hornady LR rounds.
I still reload, but in a pinch I think you'll be happy.

I have a box of hornady to try along with Remington 405s. But also looks like I will be able to try handloading for it the weekend, my buddy is bringing dies to our campout shootouts so I'm bringing my mobile press powder thrower and ballance scale. Have some 350gr speed hot cores to try.
