Don't know what ammo your rifle will like Tim but my old 336CS loved these....deer hated them. :)

Everything I've ever tried out of mine has shot well enough to take a deer at 200y. The most "devastating" 30-30 ammo I've used were factory 160gr Leverevolution, and hand loaded 125gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 125gr hollow points. I use the 125gr ballistic tips out of my bolt action Stevens though.

I’ve got a 336 and a 336y, both prefer the 150gr round nose loadings. In my dad’s old 336 I shoot winchester power point or Remington core lok 150s. Either shoots close enough to the same poa/ poi for the 2-7 Leupold and my eyes. In the 16” 336y I shoot hand loaded 150gr Hornady RNSP over a stout load of BL-C2, comes out to be cheaper than buying a bunch more factory ammo but not by much these days. Either of these rifles are minute of clay pigeon at 100-150 yards and the 336y is sporting irons.

I have two Marlin's in 30-30. As has been earlier stated, neither of them like the same ammo for accuracy. One loves the 150 Cor lok and the other wouldn't hit the side of the barn until using a 150 grain Hornady flat point and a reload of IMR-4350.
Test out different loads. When you find one that works, stock up using the same manufacturing run.

I recently picked up the Marlin 336 from a member here, I believed it made in 1982 and it has the JM mark on the barrel. I already installed a scope and need to go sight it in.

I am planning to use this rifle for deer hunting, and planning to shoot it at no more than 150 yards. I didn’t know there are quite a few of ammo options out there for 30-30, so please let me know what is your favorite choice of 30-30 ammo? I am looking for something that is accurate and lethal to get a deer down ethically. Thanks for reading.

Seems to me if you're not choosing .35 Remington loads for a 336CS then you're doing it wrong. Of course that's the Missouri boy in me talking. Need a good brush busting load when you're out in the Ozarks where there's always a damn twig to send the round off to who knows where.
