I'd like to see comments from someone in the know (like our resident OK2A folks) on why this bill is/was being presented as something it appears to not be...or some help pointing out what I'm missing.

Even as it was written, at least it would've been good to have the fairgrounds thing cleared up once and for all...even though I've carried there every year.

I'm not affiliated with OK2A but I've had jobs the past 25 years where I've come to know certain "movers and shakers" in the city. In my own experience, the OKC chamber of commerce has always quietly protested concealed carry (and then not so quietly) open carry in our state. They need investment dollars pouring in from places like the N.E. and Washington that are vehemently anti-gun and do not want to scare off potential investors. I understand them wanting to protect their bottom line but their worries are baseless. We've had the SDA for 20 years and this entire state has done nothing but grow exponentially. And for every anti-gun business that refuses to spend money here, there are PRO-gun businesses out of Colorado, Texas and the south that CHOOSE to invest here.

Also, I just have to say the wall of STUPID that I have been butting my head against the past couple days is epic. Turns out that most people that tell me they "see Mary's point" is because she has an R next to her name. (Never mind that they were shouting about "thwarting the will of the people" and quoting Revelations when Obama waved HIS magic veto pen around.) I wish they could just buy a button and wear it on their chest that says "I agree with Mary no matter what" and spare me the headaches.

Where's the "like" button when you need it?

If they follow the OK Constitution, they have to take a vote to attempt an override. It's Article VI, Section VI-11.

SECTION VI-11

Approval or veto of bills - Passage over veto - Failure to return bill.

Every bill which shall have passed the Senate and House of Representatives, and every resolution requiring the assent of both branches of the Legislature, shall, before it becomes a law, be presented to the Governor; if he approve, he shall sign it; if not, he shall return it with his objections to the house in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the objections at large in the Journal and proceed to reconsider it. If, after such reconsideration, two-thirds of the members elected to that house shall agree to pass the bill or joint resolution, it shall be sent, together with the objections, to the other house, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered; and, if approved by two-thirds of the members elected to that house, it shall become a law, notwithstanding the objections of the Governor. In all such cases, the vote in both houses shall be determined by yeas and nays, and the names of the members voting shall be entered on the Journal of each house respectively. If any bill or resolution shall not be returned by the Governor within five days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a law in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Legislature shall, by their adjournment, prevent its return, in which case it shall not become a law without the approval of the Governor. No bill shall become a law after the final adjournment of the Legislature, unless approved by the Governor within fifteen days after such adjournment.
