Not really sure steve, Are they numbered different or anything?

You'd know, they had the USPI seal on the frame.I had a chance to buy one a few years ago for $350.I didn't and still regret it.It was a short run batch S&W ran for USPI service and very soon after they were issued, they went to semis.

Those that have the S&W 340, how do you like it? Do you carry .357 in it?

Love my 340 but carry it w/+P 38's.Shoot one with 125 gr.357's and you'll know why.Follow up shots after the first are impossible(fast ones anyway) and the muzzle blast is unbelievable. The big plus about the 340 is it's light.Almost 3 ozs. lighter than a comparable Airweight.

Smith & Wesson model 38 NO DASH Airweight Bodyguard.

All day, every day in a Galco pocket holster.

Reppin' no-dash 38 krew 4 lyfe.

Do you know when yours was made? I tentatively placed mine at '69.

I finally quit being such a nervous baby about printing so I'm leaving my 38 at home more and more and carrying my P6 instead. I have a feeling that the Smith is going to start finding its way into my coat pockets however.

S&W 340 M&P CT

I carry it with Full boat 125gr. Federal .357

Big Blast, but if I have to use it I want Big Blast Big Power.

It's not my Home Defense gun, though...that'd be my Smith 8-shot 627 PC

Another vote for the S&W 642. I have the Pro version that comes without the internal lock. It also takes moon clips, which would be handy if a reload was necessary. Eventually, I'd like to give one of those scandium frame S&Ws a try.

I wish I could use my .44 Super Redhawk for CCW, but I think I'd have a bit of a printing issue.
