Ok, sports fans.

I've decided to make a major change in my life...Kind-of.

I have the major horsepower Ranger bassboat, tourney crap.

I am going to retire in a couple of years, and want to get back into the fishing my dad and I did when a kid.

I have purchased a 14' aluminum boat with a small motor.

I'm looking for an awesome electronic fish locator. My budget is $500, but if its higher, I want to hear about it.

Looking for the best of the best.

Buying mode is on.

Lowrance HDS 8 or 10 with structure scan and side scan. The 8 or 10 refers to the size of the screen. You can buy a memory card with lake maps. Well I exceeded your budget by about $2500. But its amazing what they can show.

LMS 520c, Lowrance unit and yes the color is worth it. Definitely what eve you choose get Hotmaps. I made the same decision about 5 years ago, sold my Ranger and never looked back(kept the locator). $520 at Wally World, way cheaper on eBay.

Dennis - Bassin is right. I have a Lowrance Mark 5X -DSI on my boat in addition to a Eagle 320 and a Eagle 640 w/GPS and color. When you finish the renovation of the plant I will comeup and we can crappie fish and let you see all 3 in action.
