I’m just chiming in with my thoughts.

Judging by the stock it looks like a sporterized milsurp. Looks to be a decent job of woodworking on the stock. The picture makes the Barrel appear original but I’m having a hard time seeing where the rear sight used to be and I think the barrel is cut down? Looks like the 3 position safety has been upgraded too.

It has a stepped barrel, which is all mil Mausers have. Sight bases are usually pressed onto the barrel (it's a sleeve) so once it's removed and the barrel is polished up and reblued, you won't see where they were.

I would have to see it and the markings, but the shape of the forend makes me thing it is a commercial version of the military rifle. If I remember correctly (would be a miracle ) there were some made just before WW2 and I think a few after.

It looks like a stock rework by a competent smith. It still has the data tag on the buttstock. Commercial versions wouldn't have that.

Would not...keep forgetting the n't. The recoil crossbolt and wood are pretty heavily worn as well, like they've been together for decades.
