A senior Republican on the House Judiciary Committee is calling for special counsel Robert Mueller to resign from the Department of Justice’s Russia investigation.

Citing a FoxNews.com report stating that Mueller enjoyed “a lengthy, close” relationship with former FBI Director (and longtime ally) James Comey, Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., claims Mueller has failed to disqualify himself from serving as special counsel, as required by law due to the conflict of interest.

Mueller preceded Comey as FBI director from 2001-2013, and they knew each other when Comey was working as deputy attorney general for the George W. Bush administration in 2003. During Comey’s 2007 testimony before Congress, Comey described how Mueller was his confidante when Comey opposed the Bush administration’s plan to renew a controversial surveillance program, Fox News reported.

Mueller was a confidante of Comey during the initial incident, backing him up and reportedly offering to resign alongside him should the need arise. After Comey’s testimony in 2007, Mueller’s notes were subpoenaed by Congress as a way of verifying the account (which Bush and then-White House Counsel Alberto Gonzalez offer a differing version of).

"I hung up, called Director Mueller, with whom I'd been discussing this particular matter and had been a great help to me over that week -- and told him what was happening," Comey testified. "He said, 'I'll meet you at the hospital right now.'"

According to Fox News, Mueller once called Comey “one of the finest people I’ve ever met.”

“Bob Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties. Those who worked under them have attested he and Jim Comey possess a close friendship, and they have delivered on-the-record statements effusing praise of one another,” Rep. Franks stated Tuesday, via press release.

“No one knows Mr. Mueller’s true intentions, but neither can anyone dispute that he now clearly appears to be a partisan arbiter of justice. Accordingly, the law is also explicitly clear: he must step down based on this conflict of interest.”

Mueller’s investigation into President Trump is highly politicized, as the investigating team is allegedly chock full of Hillary Clinton supporters seeking to impeach Trump.

“Until Mueller resigns, he will be in clear violation of the law, a reality that fundamentally undermines his role as Special Counsel and attending ability to execute the law," Rep. Franks stated.

The 8 dirtiest scandals of Robert Mueller no one is talking about
Published: 19 hours ago

*Some $12 billion in $100 bills was dispatched to the Iraq war theater, and vanished.
*The IRS deliberately targeted Christian and conservative organizations to cause them trouble.
*Fast and Furious saw the government traffic guns into the hands of Mexican cartel criminals.
*The Department of Justice spied on AP reporters.
*Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation got millions for speeches while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.
*Hillary Clinton dealt to Russia control of 20 percent of the uranium capacity inside the U.S.
*Of course, there was Hillary Clinton’s private email server, and all the government records, including classified, that ended up there.
*The HSBC money-laundering scandal.

...“What stands out most during then-FBI Director Mueller’s term in office is the two-tiered system of justice, when obvious crimes and scandals involving government officials and private-sector elites were ignored or even covered up by the FBI. What Mueller failed to do to protect our country says more than anything he did,” he continued. “His level of aggressiveness in investigating our president is the exact inverse of how he acted when he was tasked with protecting America.”...

Mueller's Charge: Search for Justice, or Fishing Excursion?
A recap of how we got here and where this investigation into Russian election interference might be headed.
James Shott · Aug. 8, 2017

..."Recently, Mueller impaneled a grand jury in Washington, DC, of all places. That’s significant because it’s an indication that Mueller is hot on the trail of criminal activity, not counterintelligence, but it also might indicate partisan motives. Of the location, Newt Gingrich noted, “President Trump got 68.63% in West Virginia, 4.8% in Washington DC. Guess where Mueller has a grand jury? Guess how biased it will be?”

It’s not just conservatives catching on to this element. Leftist law professor Alan Dershowitz wrote, “The District of Columbia jury pool will be overwhelmingly Democratic, by a ratio of close to 10 to 1. … There is no guarantee, of course, that a Democratic juror would vote to convict an indicated member of the Trump administration… But in selecting jurors from among the pool, most prosecutors would favor Democrats.”"...

The problem with the Grand Jury is that it's in DC. I think it was 96% voting for clinton. How is is going to get an unbiased jury in DC?

"By statute a special counsel’s or special prosecutor’s job is to investigate known crimes. As Rosenstein even admitted, no actual crime has been identified. In fact, the Russian involvement in the election that has commanded the attention of the media and Democrats for more than a year did not begin as a criminal case but rather a counterintelligence case.

As Mueller began recruiting his team of lawyers to assist in the investigation, it was noted that some of the early ones were donors to Democrat candidates. And to date, as reported by The Washington Post, of the 14 names confirmed by the special counsel’s office, seven of them have “donated a total of $60,787.77 to [Hillary] Clinton and other party candidates.”

William Barr, attorney general in the George H.W. Bush administration, told the Post, “In my view, prosecutors who make political contributions are identifying fairly strongly with a political party.” Can this investigation possibly be objective when such operatives are doing the investigating?

The order creating the special counsel ostensibly is for investigating Russian election involvement. However, it effectively has no limits. Having found nothing pursuable in the Russian intrigue, which was the reason for appointing a special counsel, Mueller has moved on to other topics. He is now looking into matters involving Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. If/when that one runs its course, another empty space awaits, like President Donald Trump’s business dealings over the years."

Only half of the team were clinton donors. One only $200, but it was a donation.
The other half never contribute anything to any candidate. That does kinda makes it balanced.

Paul Manaforth, Trump's campaign chairman for a short period, was raided by the FBI in an early morning search of one of his homes.
Mr. Manafort was involved with the Trump campaign at a critical juncture, leading it for three months during the run-up to the Republican convention last summer. The position was short-lived however, as he resigned from the campaign in August amid questions about his lobbying work on behalf of pro-Russia groups in Ukraine.
