Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree at Salt Lake grocery store

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Utah is the only place I have ever had a knife pulled on me. I was riding a bus in Provo and this nutjob pulls out a huge folder and asks me if I wanted him to kill me now or later. I told him later would be fine and got off at the next stop. My buddy and I could have made quick work out of him so mostly it was funny but it reminded me there sure are a bunch of weirdos out there.

Had a knife pulled on me in the back of the ambulance years ago in Ada while transporting a patient. Luckily when I bailed out the side door at the stop sign the police who has "searched" him prior were riding along right behind us. They tried to pepper spray him until I told them not to do that in my ambulance, as I would never get the smell out. They ended up coaxing him out of his own free will, then arm-barred him onto the hood of the police car... when we then had to cuff him to the stretcher and transport him onward to fix his newly-broken elbow! lol

He got a felony and 6 months in county for that one. lol

Had a knife pulled on me in the logans parking lot because a jackass dinged my Tahoe with his door. All he had to do was say sorry buddy but instead he said "I'll give you a problem"
