Have you ever had someone you reported to that respected your abilities and work ethic? Most companies seem to to choose and reward delusional people for management positions.

Few and far in between. But yes. BM1 Branum in the Navy. Anthony Vasquez, at a tree company. And my old boss that just medically retired due to cancer.

There's a theory of management that says: people always rise to their level of incompetence.

If they were really a good manager, they'd get promoted. A majority of managers, therefore, are ones who aren't good enough to move up.

My manager told me that once, and I told him if I was any MORE incompetent I'd be management material.

I to have had several good bosses and currently have one now, at least for 4 more years he says.

I have. The guy who helped develop our core product was a great boss, taught me a bunch. Ambitious, blunt, technically smart- he was a good guy to work for, as long as you did your job.
