Ike Dollars: 1971-74

99% likely they are only worth a dollar.

A few were sold to collectors by the mint and those would be 40% silver.

The 40% silver version of the Eisenhower dollar was issued as a collectible only, they are generally not found in circulation. The best way to distinguish the two versions is by weight. The copper-nickel version weighs 22.68 grams, the silver Ike dollar weighs 24.59 grams.

As far as quarters go, anything 1965 (other than proof coins) is worth face value. Prior to then they were silver. Half dollars pretty much the same (see Belthos' note above) as well as dimes. In other words, the gubmint went cheap on us in '65 and went to what's known as "clad coins". Most silver coins were hoarded decades ago.

FWIW there is one fairly rare Susan B. coin in existence but I forget the details on it. I do remember that it is a proof so it is highly polished and will be stamped S for San Francisco.

Check out your pennies closely. There were some very rare ones made along the way.

I'm a novice at this stuff but coins are kinda fun.
