As was mentioned this is 2023 with a 10 speed some people may be living in the past thinking towing rigs need 3.73 or 4.56 gears but even say 4.56 rear gear and old school TH400 trans only gives you a first gear ratio of 11.3 and this 10 speed with 3.32 rear gear and I think if it is the 10L80 it has a 4.70 first gear.
That gives you a 15.1 first gear ratio and then second gear is 2.99 which is even still lower than the TH400 in first.

And some of these engines make more TQ than old school stocker 350".

I hate all the above new stuff but must come to the realization that some of it is very beneficial and good stuff.

AND 5th gear in that 10 speed is the same ratio as 2nd gear in the TH 350 transmission 1.52.

You guys all know math but it is fun to play with it.

My 1980 3/4 ton came with TH400 and putz of a 350" and 4.11 gears.
Say 31" tall tires in first gear you will be going 50 mph at about 5500 rpm FIRST gear.

That 10 speed is now shifting into 5th gear with 3.23 gears.

You could stick 2.75 gears with that 10 speed and out gear the old school stuff.

Best puller truck I ever built was 455 olds with 2.75 gear and TH 350.
Torque overcame bad gear ratio.
Yea 455 was not stock but a Tiny cam from 1977 was used in it and ported heads with higher compression.
The engine was out of steam at 4500rpm but off idle to 4500 was like some of these new diesel Ford trucks I have been in.
Ridiculous umph.

Sorry it is late and I have been outside most of the day.

Which engine does it have? Even with the 5.3 I have pulled a trailer with close to 10000# on it, with no problems. I do have a set of super springs on the rear to help carry the load. May not be quiet legal, but it did fine. Just put in drive and engage the tow switch.

My concern was not the truck's towing capability. My concern was how I misread the max tongue weight on the label on the hitch. I needed to know my limits so that I don't damage equipment or worse yet kill someone on the road by being overloaded.
