That is one NEAT idea! I've tried cutting foam for firearm cases, and I don't mind saying I suck at it. Maybe with this idea, I'll produce halfway decent results. Thanks, ez! :thumb:

You might save yourself some trouble by using two half-height sheets of foam - then you only have to cut one sheet, and lay it on top of the other sheet. But that'd work best with one or a few firearms or items of relatively uniform thickness.

Slick, but would something like that have the reach to cut foam for a gun case?

I wouldn't imagine you'd need to turn it, like you would a scroll saw. It should cut in any direction, so I would think that with the 12"x14" top, you could cut up to a 24"x XYZ" piece, moving the piece left, right, up and down. No need to turn it.

I think people use that for parts to cannibalize and make a bigger arm/table.

I'd go for that...I'm tim - tim - timid (read southpark style retarded) about rigging up anything electrical - too many "science projects" gone bad.
