Ate dinner with one of the House members this weekend. Couple things of interest. . .

The discharge petition on Open Carry brought down the wrath of the Speaker. Called an emergency caucus meeting to tell the members they would *not* sign the petition. Looks like that will fall 6-7 votes short.

Campus carry is unlikely to make it out of committee. Sue Tibbs won't let it go.

Sue *will* let the "open carry on the ballot" out of committee.

Thankfully, State Representative Sue Tibbs will be *former* State Representative Sue Tibbs in another 2 years.

Good.

It wasn't an Open Carry bill, as was discussed in the other thread.

The bill would have allowed open carry under the condition that you could articulate a "reasonable fear of bodily harm". That would mean that open carry would still be considered unlawful carry except under extremely limited circumstances.

I agree, HB1647 (the neutered "open carry only in emergencies" bill) is no loss.

But what is the status of HB1470? That's the bill that simply gives SDA licensees the option to open carry. 1470 is the one that open carry supporters need to push to the floor. Not Tibbs's "open carry voter referendum" bill.

Is this Wednesday's Public Safety meeting the last chance to move any of the open carry bills forward, or will there be another meeting next week?

Looks like we still have some House cleaning that needs to be done. Damn progressives pretending to be conservative protectors of our Constitution.

Some would argue that "conservatives" blatantly disregard the Constitution (both Oklahoma and United States) as much as "progressives".
