I guess the daughter knows better than to lie to her father. It is a terrible situation and it is hard for anyone to say what they would truly do in this situation especially due to the lack of details.
Well said, BB.
But you are still comparing apples and pears.
Were you awakened by another saying there was an intruder?
Did son deny knowing who was in the room?Did she not speak up and make quick / suspicious moves?
I agree with Bob, a JBT gets called of an intruder, girl denies knowing boy, boy makes sudden move, JBT shoots boy. Tragic = yes, justified = ask Raylin.
I feel for both families, regardless of the Grand Jury, Dad will have to live his actions for the rest of his life.
To me this is the biggest factor, when the girl said she didn't know the guy it probably sent dad into emergency mode because he then thought it was an intruder who might do anything. If the girl would have said, "he's my boyfriend", I'm sorry daddy", or whatever sure dad would still be mad but would know he was dealing with a boyfriend and not intruder. Was what this girl did any different than a girl claiming rape to save her "reputation"?
MODS.. Are pages 2&3 of this thread having problems? They don't seem to want to open normally.
Hmmmm ... they opened for me just now ...
Oh, and you are right. All this nightmare falls squarely on a young lady who thought she was old enough to do things her parents didn't approve of (or she wouldn't have been sneaking him in) and then lied to her dad when he "caught" her. Actions have consequences ... For this family and young man and the family of the young man who died, those consequences have been devastating and will be, no doubt, life-altering, for those who are left.
Most fathers don't understand or don't what to understand, that their daughter grow up, faster then they what.
I could have been shot few times , if the fathers knew what really.... was going on ! >
