Let's face it not everyone wakes up "wide awake".
Get woke from dead sleep. Some dude makes a move. May not think it out as clearly as a internet commando and shoot someone who entered house unknown to you.

And we still probably don't know everything about this either.

The way I read it, Dad hears about intruder in his house. Dad confronts intruder, daughter is like "Oh my gosh, who is this guy in my room! Get him out!" Dad orders scared and confused boy out, boy reaches for something, dad thinks it's a gun, shoots boy. Girl is like "Oh my gosh, you shot my boyfriend!" Dad is like "BOYFRIEND!?! WTF?!?" Boy dies because girl threw him under the bus.

Got the same gist. Dad went worst case scenario, thought he was protecting his daughter from stalker-boy (or worse). The daughter will be scarred for life and probably have a hard time getting a date now.

Two lessons, one, don't enter another man's house without letting him know you're there. Two, don't lie to your dad about the guy in your room that he doesn't know.

A commenter over at Bayou Renaissance Man pointed out that there was a case a while back where hubby came home to find wife and unknown man gettin' jiggy. She screamed that she didn't know the man, and hubby shot & killed what he thought was a rapist. Wife was charged with murder 2, but he didn't say if she was convicted. An overzealous prosecutor could reasonably charge the daughter with manslaughter, I think. Still not clear on OK laws. Back home (Ohio), she'd be eligible for criminally negligent homicide.

Do I think that's the right or best thing? Probably not. Maybe let her sweat it out though. I'd like to see her do some community service on the dangers of crying wolf though.

Authorities say that the father got into an argument with McCormick and called 911 after his son informed him that the teenage boy was in the girl’s room. The man told the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that he opened fire on the teen when McCormick dropped his hands, thinking he was about to grab something...

Friends of the teenage girl said her parents were tough on her.

“They were strict,” Nicole Morris told KHOU. “They didn’t really like her doing a lot of things.”

So there was time for a 911 call and an argument, wonder if the argument was over whether the boy was an intruder or not while the daughter continued to lie about it.

The girl should be charged just as that wife in the other case was, they both made a false criminal allegation the resulted in a persons death to protect themselves from their own actions.
