I was a Trooper of the United States Army 10th Cavalry Regiment.

I am white. I am a Buffalo Soldier.

I am proud of my heritage.

I am proud of my Regiment, its lineage and battle honors streaming from its guidon.

I am proud of my brothers, both black and white.

I am a Buffalo Soldier,through and through.

I learned how to soldier and be a soldier while a trooper of the 10th Cavalry Regiment.

I have never felt more alive at any other time.

I am a white Buffalo Soldier.

I am proud.

I'll bite--what makes you a buffalo soldier? My understanding is that the term applies to African American cavalrymen in the 19th century, and that the name was a term of respect conferred on them by native Americans who deified the bison.

My understanding was the term came from the comparison of the black cavalrymen's hair to the curly, wooly hair on bison.
