I put together this .22 bullet trap over the last few days. It's made of 3/16" plate and the targets are doubled up making them 3/8" thick. I also did my best at heat treating the plates to make them harder and not deform when hit. I also used a couple of pieces of 1/4" X 2" strap and some old rebar for the handles. She's one heavy pig. Probably about 75lbs. I put 50 rds of winchester bulk .22 on it from about 15 yds and it seems to be holding up just fine. No deformations in the back stop and only the tiniest imprint of the .22 on the spinners. I think 50 years from now she'll still be sucking up rimfire ammo without an issue. The targets are 1", 2", and 3".

looks darn good. any desire to build another one? what would you charge for labor i have most of the material.

It honestly took me about 10 hours of work. I had to cut all of my steel with a torch and clean the edges up with a grinder. I am not the best welder by any means but I slathered it on thick and it should hold forever. I'm sure I could put one out a little faster now that I have done it once. If you have the material and welding equipment I could come over and give you a hand. Or you can pm and maybe we can work something out if I do it.

It's 24" deep by 18" wide and 14" tall. The spinners sit 5" back from the front edge.

I like it, if you can post the dementions and the angle of the back stop I could make a CAD drawing for thoes that might be interested in building one.
