Hello all,
I have a quite a bit of wheel weights (30-40 lbs) that need to be cast. I don't have the equipment and time so I would like to partialy trade some to someone that can cast. I'm mostly looking for 147gr 9mm ro .45. Thanks!

Eric you will get about 30-35 bullets from 1lb of clean lead if they are 200gr bullets
And wheel weight lead is not clean...usually.
From about 120lbs of wheel weights i will get 75-85 lbs of ingots.

Make sure all of those lead wheel weights are in fact lead.. not zinc or steel.

Have you sorted them?
You may end up with 20+ lbs of good ingots
Ingots are easy to make.. kind of fun also..

Then the bullet making...
20lbs X 30 bullets a pound
About 600 bullets if you do it yourself and 1/2 a day of work.

Would cost you 37 bucks for 500 from JK for 9mm 147gr.
At least that is what i googled.
Now if you have 40 lbs and all lead wheel weights
I know a guy that will buy those wheel weights.
Metal check is paying 35cents a lb.. the guy i know will pay more.

Put that money towards buying some bullets..
Or buy a mold from lee and start casting..
I used an old stainless pot to melt and pour right from the pot to the mold for many years.

How many 45 bullets were you looking to trade out the wheel weights for?
