If it is not cheaper to change your own oil, your'e probably getting screwed. Been doing my own oil changes since the early 80's.
Could be. Apples to apples it may be a little cheaper. I think I spent about $50 on 7 qts of Mobil 1 and filter last time. I see oil changes advertised for less, but probably house brand oil.

Mobil1 is a lot cheaper if you buy it in the bigger jugs. IIRC, the last time I looked, three 1qt bottles cost about as much as the "5qt gallon" jug; I want to say the single quarts were ~$8ea, and the big jug was ~$25--and the "box of oil" wasn't a whole lot more than the jug. I'd bet that the unit costs are significantly lower when you're buying it by the 55gal drum, and lower still when you're buying it in the quantities an oil change place is. So it wouldn't shock me if they could, in fact, charge you less for an oil change than you could do it yourself.

So I've been going to Kwik Kar in Yukon since like 2014. I was on a first name basis with everyone, including the owners, David, then Mark and Jamila.
Mark and Jamila just sold shop, and now it's a Take 5. Two of the oil guys and the head mechanic stuck around, with Joe (the ASE mechanic I trusted my life to) as general manager, but I was told he may not be THAT general manager.
But as Kwik Kar, I was welcome to be under the car with them, and see first hand any issues. I could come in and out of the pits as I pleased. They did brakes, engine and transmission swaps and flushes, AC, rotations, balances, the works.
Take 5 removed all that equipment and converted it to 4 more oil bays.
Now, I trust the guys still working there to do a stand-up job, but I need a new place to call home.
Somewhere that will consider me family.
I live in Mustang and the whole extended family all took all of our cars to KK.
The prices have also doubled with Take 5, with less than half the services done.
I know they didn't check my transfer or pumpkin fluids.
Any recommendations in the west or southwest side of the metro?

I know the pic is kind of hard to read but those prices don't include the $8/quart additional over 5 quarts.
I also didn't get my traditional full service with window wash and vacuum plus all the benefits of a true full service (which used to cost me $42 out the door).
A side note for the record, I've been underneath this truck with them for oil changes for 40,000 miles, and today, the first day with the new business, I all of a sudden have a rear main seal leak and a passenger valve cover leak, of which I couldn't witness because of the dozens of signs that say PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE. The one leak I knew about, the front left CV axle, wasn't mentioned.
Sad day...View attachment 213711
That’s an upcharge that they are instructed to do. Dump them or call them on it.

A friend of my dad got his oil changed at a store with a name that rhymes with Mall Fart. He got about halfway home before the engine seized due to lack of oil pressure, mostly because there was an empty threaded hole in the bottom of the oil pan where all the oil had gone... I know he was fighting with them over it, as they tried to claim no responsibility for their screw-up, but I never heard how it came out.
I won't let Wal Mart change the tires on a little red wagon. I took wheels and tires to the one in Ponca City to have the tires changed . When they were done my one of my mags looked pretty beat up. I got on their case about it and they gave me a number to call . I called the number and ended up emailing pictures of the damage to them. The guy there said that it didn't look like damage a tire machine would cause. I said that's my point there isn't any excuse for my wheel getting beat up like that. They did nothing . I surely would not trust them to do a oil change.

Sister -in-law had wal fart change her oil and filter on a new car.
Many months down the road it began knocking and she took it to the dealer and the dealer asked if she ever changed the oil.

She had all the receipts saved up from the oil changes and the dealer said the original oil filter was still on the engine.
The filter was hard to get to and it was never replaced but she was charged for it.
Wal fart paid to have a new engine stuck into that car.

I have no issues with them and my tire changes..but i do remove my hub caps if I have any and I tell them what air pressure to stick in the tires and on my 57 chevy and 47 dodge I tell them how to jack it up.

I will not just turn them loose on my stuff though without watching them.

Lol I had an oil change done once and made it home to a steady drip. Crawled underneath and looked to see where it was coming from. I could see the filter gasket hanging out. Common sign that the old gasket stayed and new filter/gasket was screwed on. I checked oil and drove back to the shop. The owner tried to tell me they didn't do that. Lol. Yeah I am gonna pay to have my oil changed and then go home and pull the filter and double up the gasket and screw filter back on.
