Just found out that Intuit's Homestead web hosting service is dropping FTP support.. FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol and has been part of the web since it's inception. This is the way the model airplane club I belong to uploads Web Cam images and I use it to upload software patches for my customers. Without being able to send a file to the site unattended our web cam will quit working on March 1st when they turn off FTP.

I have a couple business sites with Homestead which I'm going to move when I can find another provider that supports FTP. I can't expect the club site to move but maybe I can host the web cam on my site with the new provider.

Any recommendations for a web site provider?
Thanks...

I unfortunately cannot provide any reasonable answers for you besides the obvious (Godaddy, maybe?). I really don't work much with webspaces.

I'm more posting in surprise that someone's dropping FTP support. Wow! I hope other people don't jump on this bandwagon. That seems pretty nuts.

I will warn you, if you are looking for local solutions to avoid SIXBYTE at all costs. They are overpriced, have tons of downtime, and incompetent.

Thanks for the leads gang, afraid this is going to take quite a bit of research. One I found in Texas is HostGator, reviews seem to be more positive than negative.

I'm still flabbergasted by Intuit's (Homestead) decision to drop FTP support, hope they loose enough customers that the idiot who made this decision gets fired.
