A teacher I work with flew to another state for cancer treatment and during the 3 minutes or so he lost possession of his
Ipad to TSA and airline personnel his Ipad was stolen from his bag.

Seems to be widespread so if you fly and take an Ipad with you carry it on board yourself.

That sucks. D IPads have the GPS locator function that an IPhone has? That wold be a way to possibly find your gear.

Ipad and laptop go through checkpoint in a bag in a tsa approved checkpoint friendly bag so I don't remove anything and place it in a tray.

That's why I always take mine on the plance with me.

TSA in Amsterdam nearly lifted my Fenix light after the screening. I sat down and realized it wasn't in my pocket. When I walked over and questioned them, they kept telling me to check my bag and that I must have put it in there. I insisted that it wasn't there and they magically "found" it.

Shady stuff.

Oh yeah, the government is following the corporate business model of slapping massive/intrusive regulations on an agency and then proceeding with massive budget-cuts taking everything to the bare bone while at the same time running off all of the good employees and getting cheaper folks to come in.
