So i have a m1a with a harris bi-pod and a sadlak scope mount... would i be totally insane if i were to try to swap someone with a MSAR E4. my logic being that 5.56 is a hell of alot cheaper than 7.62 and i can share mags with my wifes AR.

I understand, but there would be a point in your life where you'd regret selling / trading the M1A. And it would probably be the day after.

Your reasoning is faulty. Don't get out from under a a classic gun because it is expensive to feed. I agree with everyone here. You will come to regret it at one time or another. They don't make them like they used to.
