A customer tried to steal a "sexy referee" Halloween costume from a party store by shoving it down his pants, a security officer said.
Oklahoma man accused of stealing 'sexy referee' costume Matthew Blake Dixon, 25, of Elk City, was in Oklahoma County jail today on complaints of larceny of merchandise and interfering with an official process along with an unrelated Washita County warrant, jail records show. He has not been formally charged.
An off-duty police officer working as a security guard at Party Galaxy, 300 S MacArthur Blvd. about 7:45 p.m. Friday saw a man walk with the costume toward the back of the store, according to an Oklahoma City police report released today. The man opened the bag and shoved the costume in his pants.
The man tried to take it out of his pants when he saw the officer and tried to pull away when the officer grabbed him by the arm, the report states. The man fell to the ground, was handcuffed and taken to jail.
The report valued the costume at $34.99.
In Beckham County, Dixon has previous convictions for DUI and aggravated reckless driving from a 2006 case, and DUI, obstructing an officer, driving with a suspended or revoked license and transporting an open bottle of alcohol from a 2009 case.
His Washita County warrant stems from failure to appear at court appearances related to a 2008 felony conviction for DUI.
Corrections records show Dixon is on probation in connection with a suspended sentence in the second DUI case from Beckham County and a deferred sentence in the Washita County case.
