I would like a larger charging handle on my Ruger 10/22. Does anyone know if this is a difficult task, and if so who do you recommend for the job? Thanks.
Its not to difficult. You have to grind the pinched areas off the end of the op rod that carries the handle. When you do this the spring will let everything fly off unless you're prepared for it. I use small needle needle nosed vise grips to compress the spring and hold everything together. You can put it all back together without anything on the end of the rod to capture it all. I have heated and beat the end of the rod to re-swage it, also I have crossed drilled the op rod and used a paper clip to temporarily hold it together for reassembly.
