Yesterday afternoon, I was waiting in line at the post office near 31st and 129th in Tulsa. There was a young couple with a little boy at one of the windows with a large package that apparently they were trying to send to Mexico. After a short conference with the postal worker, they moved to one side to write the shipping addresses on the wrapper of the package. The woman started writing something, then paused to speak with her partner. He took the Sharpie pen from her, wrote something on his hand, and held it up for her to see. A big lower-case "i" - apparently she didn't know how to write one? :uhh: She took the pen back, bent over the package, looked at his hand, carefully wrote something, then paused again. After another conference, the fellow took the pen and wrote the rest of the address.

Made me wonder... but I'd rather not say anything that might get me a time-out :P

Oh you use the same post office I use, I hate it when poeple send me packages via USPS because then I have to go waste hours of my life to get a stupid box.

If it won't fit in the mailbox since we are on a driving route the mail man won't get out of his truck and leave it at the door, instead we get a card to go pick it up. Everytime I have been there on my lunch break I have had to make up for the additional time that place costs me waiting in line I am always late getting back to work.

After work, the fastest I ever got through the line was in 45 minutes. I was once in line for 2 hours to get a package.

People who want to ship stuff via USPS that wont fit in my curbside box no longer get my business. If you can't fedex or ups it I don't need it.

You can fill out a card to have packages left at your house unless the sender has requested a signature. Even then, you can sign the notice, leave it in your box, and the carrier will bring it back the day after. They are supposed to get out and attempt delivery to the door unless you're on a rural route.

Call my post office and tell them that, they won't and don't get out and leave packages middle of town, not rural at all.

Dang, you people missed the point of my post. The young lady could not print an "i" or finish writing out an address?? She looked to be in her early 20s; how often do you run across someone who can't write?
