Greg Gutfeld pointed out similarities between Russia attempting to undermine the American presidential election, and coastal liberals trying to affect a House race in Georgia.

Democrat Jon Ossoff, who does not live in the sixth district, was defeated by Karen Handel (R) in a race for the seat vacated by HHS Secretary Dr. Tom Price.

Gutfeld said donations to Ossoff came from 7,000 Californians and 800 Georgians.

He said Hollywood celebrities like Chelsea Handler and George Takei dumped money into Ossoff's campaign

"How is this not similar?" he asked. "How is California not Russia and Georgia not America?"

He called it a case of "aristocratic outsiders instructing the rubes on how to vote - undermining an election thousands of miles away."

Large sums of money also came from the New York metro area as well as wealthy New England enclaves.

Gutfeld called the phenomenon on the Democrat's side "a giant valium" in the wake of their major losses in 2016.

Jesse Watters called Ossoff a "carpetbagger" who "parachuted" in to represent the Pelosi wing of the Democratic Party in a district once represented by staunch conservative Rep. Newt Gingrich (R).

I'm really digging that conservative honesty:
Ossoff was born on February 16, 1987,[1] in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised in Northlake, an unincorporated community in Georgia's 6th congressional district.[8] Ossoff attended the Paideia School, a small private school in Atlanta.[9] While in high school, he interned for Georgia congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis.[9]
...
Ossoff grew up in the 6th district, where his family still resides, although as of the election he lived about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) outside the district's boundaries. As a result, he was unable to vote for himself in the primary. He has said that he temporarily lives in the neighboring 4th District so that his fiancée, an Emory University medical student, can walk to the hospital where she works. Ossoff says he intends to move back to the 6th district after his fiancée completes her medical studies.[23][11][24]

A real carpetbagger, that one. No connection to the district at all. <rolls eyes>

I agree that his home location stuff is really a red herring. The much more interesting story is the influx of a huge amount of money from a few very Liberal strongholds in CA and MA and the almost complete lack of effect it had in the end.

actually, if you look at the last election for that seat, the fact that this one was so close shows that there was actually a large impact from the efforts (both financially and in terms of politicking from both sides).

It's a seat the GOP has held since 1976 and won by 26 points in 2016. Yesterday they beat a relatively unknown Dem by 4 points.

Well, a relatively unknown with 23 million in funding opposed to I believe, 5 million, on the GOP side? Most of his coming from out of state.

Not sure where you got those numbers. I haven't seen any for the republican side, but PBS newshour had this to say about the overall race, "Some $42 million was spent on television and radio advertisements alone. The overall cost of the race is expected to exceed $50 million. "

Not to mention that many heavy-hitter republicans, including Trump had to come stump, i'd say they had to work for it.

Yeah, a three county race. One county went dem by 17 points. Quite the referendum there...

Who said it was a referendum? All i said is that a 4 point loss for a seat that featured a 23 point win a year ago IS a big swing. Lots of variables there, but for a seat that has been solidly for the GOP since 1976 it's not the loss that many of us on the right want to make it out to be.
