Not long ago I managed to smash my wrist onto something at work and jarred the second hand off…I know nothing about watch repair, can I just take this in and get it re set?

Should be an easy fix. Take it into a jewelry store and they could probably help. I believe there is an OSA Member that restores & works on watches. Someone chime in and post who it is as I can’t remember.

As long as the pivot that the seconds hand mounts to didn't break off, and it is simply a matter of the hand popping off cleanly, it's a fairly simple fix. Just make sure to have the watch stopped by removing the battery, or pulling out the crown (if the movement has a 'hacking' feature) before resetting the seconds hand. Good magnification is critical, as that's a tiny pivot and easy to break if done incorrectly. With proper tools and magnification, it's pretty quick work.
