Travel ball brings out the best/worst in parents. I did it for 6 yrs. Gone every weekend. Her last year they won the Kansas City championship. If you don't think college's are watching you are wrong. My daughter had offers during her Jr. Year of high school. There's a lot of competition involved.

Whatever happened to ‘The Sandlot’ baseball we knew as kids?
I coached both of my sons baseball teams when they were growing up. 4 years apart, so it worked out.
We started the season with a dozen new balls for game day, and used balls for practice along with a half dozen bats and catchers gear all stuffed into a GI duffle bag. That was the entire team's equipment. They had to provide their own gloves.

The player with the most errors or least amount of hits was honored in carrying those bags before and after practice. It was a motivator for sure.

FYI, that year, she was at the OU softball ball camp. I got a call from the OU softball medical staff. My daughter was not going to be able to complete the camp because of a back issue. She had been dealing back spasms for a year but none of the local Dr's could find anything. The medical staff told us to seek out a sports specialist. After she had her x-rays the Dr located a fractured vertibrea. It took him less than 5 minutes to find it. Long story short, she had surgery and missed her senior year of ball. No scholarship after that.
