A wet spot on the baseboard turns into me having to redo my ENTIRE master bath. Found water damage in 3 closets all 3 sides of the shower. Start to tear it apart and found mold all over. Water was leaking under the shower pan, etc.......looking at $10,000-$12,000 in damage. Just moved into the house a few months ago. Not sure how long the leak has been there. All I've seen is the baseboard wet.....grrrr....Called insurance on this one. I'm asking that you pray that it all works out....:scream:

I went through that... ins told me all they would pay for is to have the carpet dried - some fan rentals, essentially. If it's not a broken pipe, then you're SOL. Of course, all policies are different, who knows. Good luck to you.

Personally, when we rebuilt, we went with the Schluter Kerdi shower system, which I think was a great investment. Previous shower didn't really even have a pan built. The Kerdi system has a prefab, pre-sloped foam floor with integrated drain and a water barrier for behind the tile. It's very nice, and there's a place on 51st that carries alot of it in stock, instead of the Home Depot "maybe we can order that for you" thing.

Read your policy first before filing the claim. Also most policies don't cover any mold damage or very little anymore. Also take into fact any claims you have filed in the last 3 to 5 years and the fact you may be dropped after the claim is paid on your next renewal. Just talking to your agent about it is a report of a claim.
