I've spoken to some young kids in a couple of classrooms. My kids are all in a private Christian school that teaches the classics and is very strong on logic skills, critical thinking. I haven't been invited to share there yet.

I agree that we don't have the group think problems here that they tend towards in liberal enclaves. When my kids were in public elementary schools here we were very happy with the teachers.

But stuff like the OP and spying on kids social media accounts really gets my attention.

Of course, the teachers union is shilling for the Dems, so I think there are some institutional biases to contend with.

as a school, our administration looks at student's social media if someone alerts them to a problem. We only worry about actual threats, criminal activity, gang activity, or a student being a danger to themselves, from what I understand. No one is sitting around browsing face book for issues.

Sorry, I have to add one more quote from the above article:

Think about the implications of that for a moment. "Now currently online at home [emphasis mine]."

That means somebody was watching in realtime, boys and girls.

If it happened at one school, it can happen at more.
Holy crap Dave. I had never heard of this. It went on for a long time without anyone decicing to blow the whistle. Monetary damages don't seem appropriate. Someone should be in jail. I have little doubt someone enjoyed watching a lot of teenage girls in their bedrooms.

I'm not a conspiracy guy but this really dampens my assertion that someone will do the right thing in situations where they are asked to violate the rights of others. If a bunch of educated school administrators who supposedly go into their profession to help kids would tolerate and cover up this sort of behavior, then I have little faith that any other government minions would be different.

I am saying that the schools at which professional educators are formed are steeped in left-wing (beyond Liberal) ideology. Thus while I am sure that the majority of teachers themselves reflect, at least broadly, the US mainstream in their politics they are also forced to get professional training that orients them with a left wing ideology. Some embrace it, a very few actively reject it, many - probably most - simply go along to get along because they are told by the professional administrators and others that they must do so in order to succeed professionally.

As a teacher, that is not a liberal, I would say you are wrong.

Are there more liberals that are teachers than conservatives, sure a lot more.

I'd certainly be pushing for a warrant to examine their electronic devices for child porn! :(

That wasn't a yes/no post so, unless you are saying you think I am wrong in each particular, what specifically do you think is wrong?
No one has ever attempted to force a political ideology on me or anyone I know.

...30 minutes with a successful business owner can have more of an impact than hours with a teacher.

This could well be true but I have also had some teachers who have a had a life long positive impact that went well beyond any subject or class they taught. I can specifically think of two who really taught me character lessons that I carry to this day (decades later). Don't sell your profession short in that regard.

Teachers can make a huge difference in a kids life. I'm a prime example. If two of my HS teachers didn't intervene, no telling where I'd be now. They helped guide me back to the path I'd fallen from.
