Meh. I have always chosen a weapon or product on my own research and testing. I also carry an XDM.
Who needs a forced federal gun registry when you can convince companies to offer and maintain a warranty registration? Not only are people happy to do so, but it encourages said people to give the company more money and register more guns.
But, if I take my tinfoil hat off, it is a pretty standup move as a business.

I was in the AF for 14 years with a TS/SCI clearance. I was a cop for 15 years with all the looking into my personal life that entailed. I've had 3 FFLs and filled out maybe hundreds of 4473s over the years.
I'm pretty sure the .gov knows at least as much about me as I do. I don't give a rat's ass if they know I own guns. They're gonna do what they're gonna do, regardless of what I think about it.
