I agree. The lame duck congress sucks. But right now I'm most pissed off at the republicans in there right now. They have been filibustering the Zadroga bill and quite frankly they should be ashamed of themselves. If you aren't familiar with the bill it provides health benefits to all the 9/11 first responders who are all now dying of various diseases and cancers from breathing in all the junk at ground zero.

Obviously it was more important to them to get the tax cuts for the top 2% than it was to take care of our 9/11 hero's. If the Dems were doing something like this Fox would be screaming about it but for some reason they are strangely quiet about it.

I know everyone loves to pick on the Dems but the Repubs need to take some heat for this one. They have got their priorities all screwed up.

The Republicans were blocking it and many others until the tax bill and some kind of spending bill were taken care of, because both are critical to the economy, and the Republicans were not just fighting for the top 2% but everyone. Remember right after the election the Republicans in the Senate promised the people they were going to do this.

Now that the tax bill and a continuing spending resolution have passed or are in the works, several have agreed to support this bill. The fact that some way has been found to pay for it helps a lot too.

There was always a way to pay for it, they were still blocking it. And I don't really believe they were fighting for everyone. They were fighting for the top 2%, everybody was agreed on the bottom 98%. I don't care how you spin it, the repubs valued getting the top 2% their bush tax cuts continuation over providing health care for 9/11 first responders. The Zadroga bill should have taken priority.

And I will never believe that continuing the tax rates for the top 2% will do anything for the economy. I agree that wholesale tax increases would hurt, but data says when you give wealthy people tax breaks they just pocket the money and don't spend it therefore not helping the economy. You can argue that it isn't fair to the top 2% and I would agree with that.

As written it was not paid for and if you Google it you will, find a piece in the NYTs that several have agreed to support it. As for the rest, more liberal Koolaid.
