Just picked up a bottle this weekend. It's new to the market replacing their 15 year bottling. Way more subtle than the 10yr. Much lower peat/smoke/iodine than the 10 but it's still definitely there. It is Laphroiag after all. The immediate after taste has a touch of sweetness. The flavors fade quickly and level out in a few seconds then last a LONG time. Aroma is a touch sweeter than the 10, lower in iodine/medicinal but still full smoke. It does resemble their Quarter Cask bottling in alot of ways just more subtle. I'm glad I pick it up but in the end I prefer the Quarter Cask over the 10yr, Cask Strength or the 18yr.

Anybody else try it?

The only Laphroig I've tried is the 10-year, which I like, but you make a good point, it does have some strong medicinal flavoring (never thought of describing it that way).

I doubt I'll be able to afford the 18 anytime soon. However, I did pick up a bottle of Edradour the other day which I find quite nice. I am not nearly as eloquent as you in the description, but I found it a nice change from my usual.

I needa get some Glenfiddich... it's been too long!
