And to think how many people thought this was a good idea when used against drug dealers, etc.

Due process exists for a reason. If you abandon it even once, you establish a precedent that eventually will reach yourself.

Those who refuse to protect the rights of others, will have no one to stand by them when their rights are attacked. Bottom line this administration has eroded so many rights by dividing America into classes/sexes/colors/creeds/wealth etc. That there is no longer a group large enough of " We the people" to make a news worthy fight. In order to overturn anything in congress/washington you need a lobby and to win your case in the court of "public opinion" before your case will ever see the light of day.
