I'm looking at the same light/mount combo. I don't use front vert grips. Do you think that offset would be a better location than the LaRue mount that puts the light in the middle of the rail? How easy is it to activate without using the FVG?

the tangodown is rediculously hard to get off so i put it on another rifle and gave it a try, and i wouldnt suggest the offset mount without the vfg. way to far away from your thumb to press the button. as for the light and mount setup, its freaking awsome. with the acog, i can see about 80 yrds in pitch black darkness.

edit: i meant its to far away from any of your fingers to press the button without taking your hand off of the handguard

Not sure how it would do, but can you try to put the mount at the 6 o'clock position and then use your left thumb to activate (without VFG)? I run my X300 this way and really like it on the bottom.

DrB, I have the same offset mount and its not very useful without a VFG. Have you thought about the LaRue inline mount?

I have looked at the inline mount, but I run my front sling attachment in that location.

The offset mounted at the bottom would allow me to keep the light on the left side and still run the sling in the desired location. Just exploring potential options. I really like the X300 at the bottom. Never hurts to see if better or alternate options are out there.

You could always buy the Vikings Tactic offset mount for 1/4 the price of the LaRue and experiment with that. I just can't picture an offset mount working too well without a VFG to help position your thumb.
