Friend has a lever 30/30. Just looking for any info. I know some are pretty collectible but I know zero about them.

Any info such as date or other info appreciated.

That's a very nice shape 336 made when Marlin was Marlin, likely New Haven Conn. made, all major components machined forgings, should have the JM(John Marlin) proof stamp on barrel, and prices have risen considerable on those since the name passed thru Remington and now Ruger hands. You can watch gunbroker listings to see what folk are now paying for similar condition guns.

Nice rifle -- with the newfound popularity of lever guns , a nice one like that would probably sell easily for $750 (maybe a little more, but much more than that might be pretty optimistic )

The newfound resurgence of leverguns is cool , as it wasnt that long ago in the days when every week there was a new 7mm STW or Short, fat super magnum bolt rifle - guns just like this one - complete with those unfortunate see through scope mounts and white line spacers - lined the walls of pawn shops for $200 or so

And i know the 45/70 is currently the darling, but the 30/30 is pretty darn versatile too
