Ha, I was almost in the same shape. Ordered $34 clippers on amazon. To me #7 spacer and 15min of my time looks as good as what I have been paying $17 and a $3 tip for what I drove 20 miles away at a shop. One more cut and I will be $ and time ahead, I might not ever go back.

...in my case though, my wife has cut my hair for the last 51+ years. Well, except for a period of about 2 or 3 months when I was still in the Army in 1969.
