Does anybody see the govt being able to pass another assault weapon ban in the next 2-4 years? I'm fairly confident they won't be able to get it done in the immediate future, but am curious if anyone else has that funny feeling the buying frenzy may be justified. We have elections coming up in 2014 and the infighting within the GOP kinda makes them look bad. Any thoughts on what items we should buy before they're really gone?

I don't see anything happening other than maybe the across the board background checks. Whatever happens appears to be going to happen on a state by state level. Colorado, California, New York, Missouri, Ohio, New Jersey.

Then again, I never dreamed there would have been such a panic for 22 long rifle ammo. I didn't see that one coming either.

Who knows? We're talking about politics. (Politics: from the Greek poly meaning many and from ticks meaning blood sucking creatures.)

Obama and the dems are starting a grassroots campaign to gain control of both houses in 2014. This was on tv and Rush this week.
Their plan is to then cram everything down our throats. gun control, global warming, cap and trade, immigration amnesty. Everything
his last 2 years.

Well thats obvious to everyone. He is already making moves in that direction & hand picking people to help him push his agenda. They are all mindless puppets, bad thing is they have the attention of the sheeple who are grazing on their poisoned grass. I have a bad feeling the majority of people will not wake up till they have voted themselves into a socialists/Communists leadership. Then when the lights come on it'll be too late. Far too many people have let go of common sense & the ability to actually pay attention & read between the lines. Far too many blindly believe what politicians tell them.

There is no meaningful chance of passing a ban on rifles.
There was never any real chance.
The plan will be to over reach and then come to a compromise thereby painting their opponents as death mongers while showing their voting constituency that they fought the good fight.

Expect a better than 50% chance that they will move to ban

1) imports of military surplus weapons
2) detachable magazines that hold more than 10 rounds or possibly some compromise like 15 round max or some odd size like 27 that makes almost all current magazines unusable.

an attempt to remove the Curio's and Relics "loophole".

I'm just waiting for them to add ammunition to the nfa, you'll still have a 30 round magazine but each bullet will require a separate $200 tax stamp and you'd better have all your documents in order. If it cost you $6000 to load each and every magazine they'd be comfortable allowing the type of people who can afford that to carry guns. None of the current proposals affected the rich and powerful in any case as their protection details were always exempt from both current and proposed rules.

So if one were to acquire anything, it should probably be magazines? I'm just a plain every day Joe plinker trying to stay ahead of whatever is coming our way. I know we have time, but will the manufacturers have enough products to keep up with demand?

In the next two years? No chance on the "Whatever the *** We Want It To Mean!" Ban or the "Geez, that's too many buwwets!" magazine ban; possibly something on the UBCs. If the GOP will stop screwing the pooch in the elections, there's no chance of it in the next four years, but I don't have much faith in their ability to refrain from bestiality. If they run any more idiots like Mourdock and Akin, we're ALL screwed--IMHO, those two jackwagons are directly responsible for the losses at the Federal level last November. (As much as I agree with the Tea Party on economic grounds, they need to stop pushing candidates whose top skills are energizing the left's base while simultaneously alienating the swing voters.)
