Glad to see someone with a serious post on this subject. What these guys have gone through is truly amazing. To be stuck underground for 69 days, 17 of which without contact from the outside world. I would have lost it many times over, but these guys are getting pulled out with smiles on their faces.
I also have to comment about the Chilean president. You can tell just how much he cares about those miners. There to hug each of them as they come out... Obama would be too busy posing for photo opportunities to worry about hugging...
Ironically, I also made a joke about it before I posted my second comment, but that's just my submarine upbringing. . .
I also agree with you about the Chilean President, and his wife if I understood it correctly. I also think that our current Pres would view it as too much of an "Hey, I'm here, look at me" opportunity, whereas you can see the genuine heartfelt reactions of the Chilean President and his wifes true support given to the spouses of the miners.
You know, I don't really cry at much on tv ... but when they brought that second miner out and he started hugging EVERYBODY I lost it.
They look amazingly good ... thank goodness.
Yeah I felt the same thing BB. The majority of people there are probably everyday people that won't be remembered or in the press, but to the miners every one of them looks like a savior as soon as they step out of that tiny little tube.
