My friend, who is not a gun person, has a rifle he got from someone in his family. He was under the impression it was an M1 Garand. It is not. He gave it to me tonight to find out what it is and what it's worth. He is trying to buy a house and is considering selling it for down payment money if it's worth something. I've figured out is a M1903 A3. The back of the barrel by the action is marked "U.S. Remington Model 03-A3 8447956", behind the trigger there is a P with a square around it in the stock. The left side of the stock above the trigger has R.R.A in large letters. The front of the barrel by the front sight says RA 2-43. The stock is in pretty nice shape. Since it has a bolt action and no tax stamp, it's not something I'm really interested in. So what are these things worth? Is there a market for it?
